Can Obesity and Back Pain be Related?
Obesity puts a strain on just about any physiological system in our bodies. The heart, the lungs, the digestive system and the circulatory system, all suffer more when you are carrying excess body weight. Your bones, joints, hips, and knees also deteriorate more quickly as they are carrying around more weight than they were designed for.
It’s no surprise then that obesity and back pain are linked to each other.
For example, excess fat around the abdominal muscles can put much more strain on the lower back . The pelvis tips forward and the spine curves unnaturally. Muscle become tight and weak and the end result is pain.
